The 2020 financial year posed an unprecedented challenge which, of course, also had a major impact on the work of the ORP International Foundation. The COVID-19 pandemic was a global disruption. The confinement of the business and population did not mean the paralysis of project promotion, research, dissemination and training activities.
FIORP, as an application of the permanent exercise of adaptation that it has practised since its creation, naturally transferred its action scenario to the virtual plane. Periodic training sessions were held on the platforms made available through the worldwide connectivity favoured by the Internet. The aim is always to make scientific advances as accessible as possible to all organisations, especially those from Spain, Europe and Latin America.
The 2020 report contains much more than figures and events, it is the reflection of a calendar and results of dissemination of knowledge and information resulting from experience. It also includes, in a brief description and in the form of a list, the knowledge acquired in just a few months and shared with an immediacy that is not reflected in the history of occupational health and safety at work.
46 ORP sessions have been held with more than 20,000 registered participants from 40 countries and more than 64,000 views of the presentations of 184 speakers and the experience of 105 companies from 34 countries.
There were two editions of the ORP congress, both virtual. The first, which took place in April, was held over 5 days with 31 conferences, 10 round tables, 30 speakers and more than 5,000 registered participants from 27 countries with nearly 10,000 views.
The second virtual congress ‘The paradox of predictive prevention in the times of the coronavirus’ was in September and had 6 online rooms with parallel programming to host 185 streaming speakers from 94 universities and institutions and 91 speakers from companies who were followed in more than 15 hours of live streaming by more than 15,000 registered users from 45 countries.
Maintaining such a demanding calendar of conferences and events is an exponent of the firm and continuous commitment of the ORP International Foundation to the implementation of the preventive culture in society from the company. In particular, it is key to reach those responsible for this area in companies, bringing them into contact with researchers and scientists who seek and find safe, healthy and practical solutions to the current and future needs of organisations.
“The importance of prevention experts for the continuity of businesses, companies and the preservation of people’s health has been seen more than ever. They are the ones who dictate the prevention measures necessary for the continuity of health, social and productive activity.“
Hans-Horst Konkolewsky
President of the International ORP Foundation
“This is a historic moment because we have been confronted with something that humanity has never dealt with in a global way before, and we have to continue to work hard to get through it quickly. Now we all have to think about health, healthy workplaces, healthy companies, making the healthy culture prevail.”
Pedro Mondelo
Director of ORP
