2016 has been a year of great activity and success for the International ORP Foundation. More than a thousand participants at the ORP International Congress in Cartagena de Indias; four hundred at the Symposium in Argentina, which aims to be the precedent for the next International Congress in 2017; more than 1,900 participants at the five pre-congress conferences held; and more than two hundred at the Lean ORPConference, held in Barcelona. The figures show that the International ORP Foundation has fulfilled its main objective with flying colours: to raise awareness of innovations in occupational risk prevention among those responsible for this area of management in companies and to put them in contact with researchers and scientists working to find practical solutions to the current and future needs of their organisations. More than three hundred speakers have presented their work at the events organised by the organisation.
This year, the main line of work of our function of disseminating and promoting scientific research has been innovation. Not the innovation that is reduced to the incorporation of new technologies into production processes, but that which includes innovation in human resource management, known as InnoManagement, which is the driving force behind the application of innovation in all areas of organisations, which considers risk prevention as a fundamental, transversal, essential element in moving towards the only possible business model: that of a healthy, safe and sustainable company. The challenges are global, but how we face them must be applied rationally and adapted to the needs of each company, depending on its size and the conditioning factors that mark its legislative and geographical environment. Therefore, it is also necessary to share those particular positive experiences that give good results so that the transfer of knowledge is practical and useful.
This year, the ORP International Foundation has incorporated the possibility of following the pre-congress conferences via streaming through ENVIVO+; a tool that has considerably increased the access to the information generated in these meetings to many people who cannot travel to the venue of the events at a given time. It has also set up the Lean ORPConference formula, a small congress,
to promote the dissemination of scientific advances and good business practices on the other side of the world from where the congress will be held. The Foundation’s objective is to facilitate access to scientific advances for all organisations: small, medium and large, especially in Spain, Europe and Latin America.
We believe that we have come a long way, but that the road ahead is still long, because it will be a road that we can only define together, and for this it is necessary that our community continues to grow. Hence the need to recognise and value the collaboration of universities around the world, led by the CERpIE-UPC; and the companies that make up our business committee; as well as the collaborating companies in each of the activities developed by the ORP International Foundation for their commitment. For believing and working with us so that occupational risk prevention ceases to be a legal and conceptual obligation and becomes what it should be: an essential work philosophy in business management that translates into benefits in the balance sheet. Only companies with happy and safe workers can achieve their objective.
This report gathers the activities carried out by the ORP International Foundation throughout 2016 and aims to be a basic element in the dissemination of the work carried out among all of us.
