Responsible tourism, axis of the Summit ‘The Future of Tourism’ in October in Barcelona that will take place from 26 to 27 October 2021 in Barcelona combining face-to-face and virtuality thanks to the Sabentis.Live platform and the support of the ORP International Foundation.

This summit, organised by the Advanced Leadership Foundation (ALF) fully assumes the recovery of world tourism, which is specifically celebrated on 27 September as the world day of this key activity for the economy of many countries, including Spain. Global vaccination is, in the specific case of the Covid19 pandemic, key for the United Nations (UN) in the case of the recovery of tourism activity across the globe.

Barcelona Summit

The Barcelona Summit aims to create the Barcelona Protocol with basic measures and a mechanism for international collaboration that will contribute to the evolution and recovery of the global tourism sector. “Rethinking the future of the tourism sector and celebrating the sector’s unique ability to ensure that no one is left behind as the world begins to reopen again and face the future” is a recommendation the UN and organisations such as ALF, Incyde Foundation and ORP take on board to achieve a new approach for the tourism industry in the short and medium term.

The event will have a hybrid format -presential/virtual-, ideas will be confronted and debate will be promoted. In addition, the current reality will be discussed and contrasted with pragmatic examples of how to face the new reality of tourism that will be presented by the main actors in the sector.

This summit will train 300 world leaders who will be responsible for endorsing the Barcelona Declaration by at least five institutions in their countries of origin.
