Healthy Companies: the value of People in the digital era

Few time, history bring us “golden minutes” which change the evolution and progress of humanity.

Those magical moments in which social needs converge with awakened minds and organizations have allowed evolutionary leaps in knowledge, such as: fire, wheel, renaissance, relativity’s theory or the DNA’s sequence discovery… to cite some facts.

Occupational risk prevention, of course, have the challenge of putting in value gigantic advances that appears in science’s world in recent years.

Occupational risk prevention has its reason to be at work. This golden moment marks us a before and after motivated by the scientific-technical discoveries offered by people who investigate.

A new generation of occupations, which we can qualify as 4.0 industry, shows us new realities that affect at work in, at least, two ways.

On the one hand, the systematic application of all of these technologies that lead us towards artificial intelligence (AI), show us the way to tackle, at once and drastically, the accident’s rate reduction. Without doubt, the other side of the coin is the emergence of new niches in the labor market that come to configure current and future activities, which generate or promote new forms of production, which brings new challenges, opportunities and can generate new emerging risks that we begin to glimpse but in a blurred vision way.

The first link in this chain is reconsidering what it is to work today and why and for what, which configures new values or, at least, the rebalancing of previous ones.

Humanity had never accumulated such a large amount of talent in quality, as obviously, in quantity. If we add to this science and technology’s contributions and the not insignificant temporary variable of growth and implementation, we find a unique moment of gold, which must be oriented to impact on the improvement of the common good.

However, this knowledge generation speed leaves little space for reflection and ethical assessment of the impact of new developments. Social change is no longer something provoked or searched by ideologists, these thinkers have been replaced by the implicit ideology and inherent in science, technology and products and their advances, which become unconscious routine and give meaning and order to values.

On the other hand, the present society, which has found in the company its natural way to satisfy their needs, must pay a special attention to the staff that generate these goods and services.

Therefore, we must attend to needs of these who provide us with quality products and services, it is where the movement of healthy company appears. That goes beyond the simplistic vision of occupational wellbeing and seeks to consign and reconcile in a holistic way all the variables present in the organizations which configure society’s health.

La Healthy company ceases to be protective shelter healthy people, to become or to try to reach with its impact to the global of all stakeholders that give meaning to it. Thus, healthy company exerts its strength and attraction on the environment, in such a way that it is fixed gravitationally to it.

In the pursuit of business sustainability is the germ of global health, combining the company’s responsibility for its staff with the extension to the environment.

In this way, people go on to recover the epicenter of the company, which should never have lost, and become the unique and privileged main character of this new healthy company which is compromised to the people, their environment and the planet.

Urgently, we need to consider the scope of this healthy company If we want to give credit and maintain the reputation of it and be considered this as the strategic element that works in the search for solutions for a more just and sustainable society, we can say, without fear of mistaken, that the complicity of the healthy company and the society is the evolutionary process coherent in the generation of the common good.

To put in value the justice that society demands, has shown, in advanced countries, that not only is the reason of being of the ethical behavior of the company, at the same time it becomes a source of mutual wealth. Therefore, a healthy company is sustainable by its definition and helps to plan, in a coherent and consistent way, the future with less uncertainties, both for organization and for the environment.

Healthy company is the evidence that people are the good to protect, but this vision goes far beyond the care of direct collaborators and it becomes in protector of all people and the environment.

Healthy company is, without doubt, the strategic element for the humanity’s sustainable development.
