ORPHEUS Night 2024: A tribute to excellence in Occupational Risk Prevention

The ORP International Foundation celebrated with resounding success the ORPHEUS Night 2024, a benchmark event in the field of Occupational Health and Safety that brought together more than 228 leading personalities of the sector in a professional and elegant environment in the emblematic city of Barcelona. The evening was marked by emotion and recognition of the companies and organisations that, with their dedication and commitment, have made OHS a fundamental pillar of their activities.

An inspiring event

The event took place in a relaxed and dynamic atmosphere, where moments of reflection, inspiration and recognition alternated. The moderator highlighted the importance of OSH as an essential factor for the well-being of workers and the sustainable success of organisations, emphasising that it is not just a matter of complying with rules and regulations, but of creating a culture of prevention based on shared responsibility and the commitment of all the actors involved.

Recognition of excellence in OSH

The central event of the evening was the presentation of the ORPHEUS Awards, a prestigious award that recognises organisations that have implemented innovative initiatives and solutions to improve the management of Occupational Risk Prevention and Health and Safety in their work environments. The jury, composed of renowned experts in the field of occupational safety, selected a total of seven organisations for their outstanding performance in this field.

The award winners and their initiatives:

German Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (BASI): Awarded for its safety training programme for construction workers, which has achieved a significant reduction in the accident rate in this sector. Recipient of the award: Christian Felten, Director of BASI.

MANGO: Recognised for its implementation, this renowned Spanish fashion brand has implemented actions aimed at caring for the health of its employees and for this MANGO has decidedly opted for on-site coverage of health surveillance services. Receiving the award: Helena Mora, Health and Safety Director, and Cristina Tarta, Health and Safety Specialist.

NOVO NORDISK: Awarded for its occupational health and safety management system based on the OHSAS 18001 model, which enables it to identify and prevent risks effectively, reducing the number of accidents at work. Recipient of the award: Thomas Heilskov-Hansen, Head of Health at Novo Nordisk.

MES SALUT I TREBALL: External Prevention Service that received the award for its long history and intense commitment to promoting Health and Safety at Work. Receiving the award: Paco Lari Carrillo, CEO of MES SALUT I TREBALL.

ALSTOM: For the actions carried out to improve OSH management. Recipient of the award: José Manuel Roldón, head of EHS at the Santa Perpètua industrial centre (Barcelona).

Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC): Awarded for the creation of an online platform that offers information and resources on occupational safety to companies and workers in Hong Kong. Recipient of the award: Bonnie Yau, Executive Director of OSHC.

IBEROSTAR: Awarded for its occupational risk prevention policies ranging from staff selection to emergency management, including continuous safety training and the promotion of healthy habits among workers. Receiving the award: Dr. Lucas Riquelme, Director of Occupational Health and Safety.

An inspiring message

After the awards ceremony, the President of the International ORP Foundation, Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of collaboration between all actors involved in ORP to create safer and healthier working environments. He emphasised that the ORPHEUS evening is not only a recognition of the award-winning companies, but also a call to action for all organisations to commit to improving OHS in their environments.

A memorable closing

The evening concluded with a cocktail party where attendees were able to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere conducive to networking. The evening was enlivened by live music and a festive atmosphere. Attendees were very satisfied with the event and highlighted the importance of recognising and celebrating best practices in ORP.
